I’m a Postdoctoral Associate in the Social Science Division at NYU Abu Dhabi. Before joining NYUAD, I earned my doctorate degree in Sociology in August 2024. I earned my master's in Sociology at Cornell University in 2022 and my bachelor's in Sociology at Yonsei University in 2016.
My research examines how people reorganize work and family lives amid changing labor-market and family contexts, with a focus on self-employment, partnership, fertility, and gender inequality. My dissertation studies the gendered landscape of self-employment, and my recent work investigates fertility change in the United States and Korea, including the roles of partnership and marital fertility. Across these projects, I use quantitative methods to understand how seemingly personal decisions about work, family, and parenthood are shaped by broader social and institutional conditions.
